DROPPING MY PANTS
...sewing patterns, that is.
At GotWorms62, we believe it’s not about who wears the pants, but who makes them. In fact, worms find the common phrase to be incredibly disrespectful – after all, they can’t even wear pants. So WWGW62D? Download one of the following pants patterns, spend some $$$ on fun fabric, and start sewing.
If you want to get bit by the sewing bug, make pants. They’re my most recommended project for beginner sewists! With some moderate effort, you’ll learn a ton of techniques & have a true garment to show for it.
As a reminder, all of these are linked below and discoverable on my pinterest (where you can also find patterns to almost everything I’ve ever sewn or wanted to sew!) To gauge pattern intensity, use my handy Worm-Be-With-You Scale. Every project below has a designated number of 🪱worms🪱 from 1-3. The more complex the project, the more 🪱worms🪱 you’ll likely need watching over you.
1: The Aubrey Pants by Cotira Designs 🪱🪱🪱
Take a stab at constructing a zippered fly & welt pockets with this pant/slack hybrid pattern. I’ve yet to make these, but have my fabric picked out! Perfect for an in-office baddie.
2: The Maple Culottes by Mood Sewciety 🪱🪱
These are similar to The Aubrey Pants, but with a higher rise and shorter hem. Culottes are coming back, baby! I’ve not made these yet, but be warned Mood patterns can be hit or miss… they’re free and essentially a marketing vehicle to sell fabric, so sew at your own risk.
3: The Lane Pants by SydGraham Patterns 🪱
A genuine hall-of-fame sewing pattern. Well written, lots of sizes, and has a video tutorial. The perfect beginner sewing pattern. Tempted to make these on a weekly basis.
4: Bracken Barrel Pants by Brightside Patterns 🪱🪱
I’m not a personal fan of the barrel look on my body, but these are still so, so cute. With pockets, a fly, and an elastic waist, these are technique-packed without being overwhelming.
5: The Nikki Pants by Iggi Patterns 🪱🪱
Cute af & modifiable — you can choose between an invisible zipper or side tie closure. Plus, this is a gr8 opportunity to re-use that bedsheet you stained thinking your period was finished. Just cut the pieces around the stain.
6: The Dinorah Pants by Tiana’s Closet 🪱
The antithesis to Lulu yoga pants. I’ve made two pairs using this pattern, though I’ve modified them both times due to my personal taste. I omit the front darts/pleats by resizing my pattern. Flowy, flattering, and comfy.
7: Luna Pants by Pau Yama 🪱🪱
Making these as soon as I hit post on this blog. I cannot think of a more appropriate garment for spring. Love the front pleats and bow detail… they remind me of London Tipton.
8: Skirty Pants by Puff and Pencil 🪱🪱
I’ve made two pairs of these, though I’ve altered the pattern both times. On both, I constructed my waistbands differently, and on one pair, I omitted the skirt. I love the fit, but found the directions to be convoluted and counter-intuitive. Also, the pattern calls for a tiny seam allowance. The fit of these CANNOT BE BEAT. Soooo flattering, but be prepared to get frustrated while sewing them.
